PARK COMMISSION PARKS u:C nEW MINUTES owwmioiiumuwwmwuw� 1 i June 14, 2017 5:30pm Tukwila Community Center Call to Order: Chairperson Mike Martin called the meeting to order at 5:30pm. Attendance: Commissioners — Mike Martin, Don Scanlon, Matt Mega, Sean Albert Staff — Robert Eaton, Marlus Francis Citizens — Scott Kruize Approval of Minutes: Don Scanlon moved to approve the amended minutes of the April 12, 2017 meeting. Matt Mega seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Special Presentations: A. No presentations were made. Lynn Miranda's was rescheduled to the July 12r" meeting prior to this meeting but after the agendas were posted. Mia Navarro did not show and will try to be rescheduled for the July 12r" meeting as well. Citizen Comment: Scott Kruize asked about the required Ethics Trainings of Park Commissioners in the Bylaws and how that is facilitated. He also mentioned the Tukwila Pond sign is in disrepair and needs to be updated as it is located in a very visible area. Business Items A. Review & Adopt Revised Bylaws — The commissioners reviewed the proposed Bylaws and asked how about the required trainings. Robert said he would look into how those trainings would be facilitated. Mega moved that the revised Bylaws included in the agenda packet be adopted. Don Scanlon seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. B. Workplan Overview —The commission reviewed the working draft 2017 Workplan and upcoming meetings schedule. The August 9, 2017 meeting will be cancelled so the commissioners can attend and participate in the See You in the Park event that evening at Foster Park. C. Park Field Naming — Marlus Francis present a memo to the commission regarding the naming of a field at Foster Park. The memo included three potential options. The commission unanimously approved option 1. Staff will write a memo for the Community Development and Neighborhoods Council Committee with the Park Commission's recommendation. D. Community Tree Planting —There was confusion here and the item should have been Park Zoning. Matt Mega conducted research since the May meeting and shared his findings with the Commission as did Robert Eaton. There is currently a Parks and Recreation Layer in the system but not an actual zone. Most parks in Tukwila are zoned Low Density Residential. A staff representative from the Planning Department will present at the July 12, 2017 meeting for the Commission. Other: A. Department Update a. KaBOOM! Update: Weekly PM Mtgs, recruitment, skilled volunteers for Thu, 7/6 Prep Day, Team Leaders for Sat 7/8, volunteer 7/8 b. Green Tukwila Update: June 3rd Stewardship Orientation, Conf call tomorrow, next steps c. Summer Schedule (Handout) d. See You in the Park: 7/12 @ Bicen @ 11:30am, 7/26 @ Crestview 5:30pm, 8/9 @ Foster@ 5:30pm e. Dave Johnson, Deputy Director position in Edmonds f. FGL Maple Tree Update, milling, additional wood still at FGL g. Recreation Management Software: Go live August 1" h. Negotiations with CIP Consultant Adjournment: At 6:18pm Sean Albert moved to close the meeting. Matt Mega seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
