At 8:34 pm on July 21, 2017, Tukwila Fire Department was dispatched to a residential
fire in the 11700 Block of 39th Avenue South. Upon arrival crews found heavy smoke
and flames showing on the exterior of the house from the rear of the structure. The
house was not occupied at the time of the fire. No one was in or around the home when
crews arrived.
First arriving fire units did an excellent job of sizing up the fire and initiating an
aggressive attack on the fire. The fire did spread into the attic space. The alarm was
quickly upgraded to a working fire which brought additional units to the scene.
Tukwila Fire Department received mutual aid from our neighboring departments,
including King County Fire District 20 (Skyway), Renton Regional Fire Authority, North
Highline Fire, Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority, South King County Medic One and
Zone 3 Rehab.
Units are still on the scene putting out small hotspots and assisting our investigators,
who are also on scene, trying to determine the cause of the fire. No cause has been
determined yet.
No injuries to residents or firefighters were reported.
Investigators are trying to identify and contact the owner(s) of the home.
