On 07/31/2017, officers were dispatched to the report of multiple gunshots in the vicinity of the I-405/SR518
interchange. Responding officers located a male victim in his 50's in his vehicle who had been struck in the arm
by gunfire. The victims injuries were non -life threatening injuries and he was transported by ambulance to the
hospital for treatment.
A second victim's vehicle was located on I-405 northbound near the West Valley Hwy exit. This victim is a
male in his 20's that was struck by gunfire in the leg and suffered non -life threatening injuries. A passerby
discovered the victim and transported him to the hospital for treatment.
It was determined that the first victim was an uninvolved motorist that was not specifically targeted by gunfire.
Detectives and officers are working to determine if the second victim was specifically targeted or if he was also
an innocent motorist.
Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit (MCU) are currently investigating the incident. Anyone with
