MOVED BY TRAYNOR, SECONDED BY BOHRER, THAT COUNCILMAN VAN DUSEN
CHAIR THE MEETING IN THE ABSENCE OF COUNCIL PRESIDENT HILL.
MOTION CARRIED.
The full time status of the Engineering Technician was discussed.
It was noted that this position is full —time only until the
Undergrounding and the Street Programs are completed.
MOVED BY TRAYNOR, SECONDED BY GARDNER, THAT COUNCIL APPROVE THE
ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN AS BUDGETED. MOTION CARRIED
Line items were discussed. Mayor Bauch made it very clear that
he insists each department charge items to the appropriate
accounts.
MOVED BY SAUL, SECONDED BY TRAYNOR, THAT COUNCIL ACCEPT PAGE 113.
MOTION CARRIED.
Non Departmental/ Council reviewed the line item accounts and noted that Uniform
Mechanical Shop Clothing (14) allows for uniform service for the three mechanics.

COUNCILMAN PESICKA ARRIVED AT THE MEETING.
Noted on salaries and wages that the Utility Person has been
changed to a Crew Person.
Councilman Traynor asked about the possibility of seeding instead
of buying sod to cut the operating supplies. Gene Isler stated
that they buy it in quantity. The rental of a chipper was
discussed. It did not seem feasible to run all trimmings through
the chipper to use as ground cover. Also included in rental
is the cost of sani -cans for the Foster, Duwamish and Bi- centennial
Parks.
Dick William expressed possible need for Professional Services.
Council agreed to move $500 from Repair and Maintenance to
Professional Services.
MOVED BY SAUL, SECONDED BY VAN DUSEN, THAT PAGE 125 BE APPROVED AS
CHANGED. MOTION CARRIED.
The acting pay of $25 per month for the Assistant Public Works
Superintendent was discussed and approved. It was stated that this
employee steps in for Gene Isler when he is out of the City.
Page 130 Discussion followed on the status of the Undergrounding Project.
Councilman Bohrer suggested that the project should be organized so as
to not have all the streets in one area tore up at the same time. This
was talked about and agreed to be a good idea.

The installation of a street light at South 180th and Andover Park West
was discussed. The question was raised as to the developers on the
private street paying a portion of the cost. Mayor Bauch stated that
the City should provide this facility. The developer is paying taxes
on his project.
MOVED BY TRAYNOR, SECONDED BY MRS. PESICKA, TO APPROVE PAGE 132.
MOTION CARRIED.
Mayor Bauch stated that he had removed $3,000 from Retaining Walls as
the wall for the Leahy property should be included in the street
upgrading when it is done and not as a separate project. He will sign
an agreement with Mr. Leahy on this.
It was noted that the walk from 56th Avenue South to 57th Avenue South
needs to have handrails and this will be done as time permits.

Noted that $10,000 has been moved from Estimated Ending Cash to
Interfund Services.
MOVED BY SAUL, SECONDED BY MRS. PESICKA, THAT PAGES 152 AND 153 BE
APPROVED AS CHANGED. MOTION CARRIED.
Interfund Services has been raised by $10,000 to cover labor for
supervising and accounting services important to the department.
MOVED BY MRS. PESICKA, SECONDED BY TRAYNOR, TO ACCEPT PAGE 156 AND
PAGE 157 (AS CHANGED). MOTION CARRIED.
Water /Sewer Construction Fund.
It was noted that the money, $98,660, could be used on a water storage
tank.
Mayor Bauch stated thatthe backhoe will be depreciated over the next
10 years. Each department using the machine will pay hourly rental.
Councilman Traynor asked if the machine will be a diesel and if our
mechanics have the background to repair a diesel. Gene Isler stated
that the mechanics have all been to school and they are getting
pretty good. The old machine has a trade -in value of about $3,000.
The type of construction that this new machine is capable of doing was
discussed. It was stated that it is not for heavy construction, just
light construction and maintenance.

BACKHOE. MOTION CARRIED.
MOVED BY TRAYNOR, SECONDED BY SAUL, TO APPROVE THE PURCHASE OF 8 -6,
BATTERY /ALT. /REG. TESTER. MOTION CARRIED.
MOVED BY TRAYNOR, SECONDED BY SAUL, TO APPROVE THE PURCHASE OF 8 -8,
WELDER LEADS. MOTION CARRIED.
MOVED BY BOHRER, SECONDED BY SAUL, TO APPROVE THE PURCHASE OF 8 -9,
CUTTING TORCH AND VALVES. MOTION CARRIED.
The snow plow will be installed on an existing vehicle. The vehicle
will have joint use.

Councilman Saul asked if the weedeater is heavy duty? Mr. Isler
explained that a cutting blade can be installed on this one. The
fish line just isn't heavy enough. It is a gas driven, backpack model.

8 -5. MOTION CARRIED.
This pogo stick is an air driven dirt compactor.

Mayor Bauch recommended purchase of all capital equipment requested
by the water and sewer departments.

ENGINEERING AND $5,000 FOR UNDERGROUND ASSISTANCE. MOTION CARRIED.
Under Building /General Facilities, the installation of an auto parts
storage area was discussed. It will be built as a mezzanine in the
first bay.
There being no further discussion, the meeting adjourned at 9:35 P.M.
