Council President Hill called the meeting to order at 7:50 P.M.
The creating of a full -time mayor's position was discussed in length.
Councilman Pesicka stated that she felt an elected official should stay
at the same rate of pay until time for re- election. The people should
have a chance to vote on this issue.
Councilman Van Dusen asked to have this item tabled until a full
Council is present.
It was decided that it would be December 19.
Mayor Bauch itemized many reasons why he felt the position should be
full -time. There are new projects to be investigated, better control
of current city business, employee relations and efficiency to study,
citizen contact, annexations and many others. Our main job is to
deliver services to the businesses and citizens in the most efficient
manner.
Councilman Pesicka again stated that the position should stay part -time
until the next election.
Councilman Hill agreed and stated that the decision should be made
by the people.
Councilman Bohrer stated that we need to look at the City as a business
a "million dollar business. No business of this size operates with a
part -time administrator. He did not feel Council should wait two more
years before making the decision.
