The following commissioners attended the regularly scheduled meeting of the Tukwila Civil Service
Commission: Bruce Paquette, Stephen Wheeler, and Ron Johnston. Others in attendance were Acting Deputy
Police Chief Rick Mitchell, Senior Manager Leon Richardson, and HR Analyst/Civil Service Examiner, Sara
Valdez.

Chair Bruce Paquette called the meeting to order.
The Chair asked if there were any corrections needed for the August 7,
2017 Commission Meeting minutes. No corrections were noted.
Acting Deputy Police Chief Rick Mitchell was in attendance in place of
Police Chief Villa and presented the Commission a staffing update.
There are a total of 77 Commissioned staff out of 83 authorized positions
leaving 2 regular positions vacant and 4 pipeline positions. 4 entry level
Police Officers currently in the Academy and 1 scheduled to attend this
month as an alternate. All non-commissioned positions are filled except
the Transport Support Officer(TSO) position which interviews will take
place next week and the Administrative Specialist position.
Senior Manager Leon Richardson presented a draft updated job
description for the Support Operations Administrative Specialist position
that is currently vacant for the Commission to review. Leon stated the
updated job description reflect some housekeeping items such as
updating `Support Operations' in the title to reflect the new department
name and some other minor changes including the addition of serving as
an alternate/assist with WSP Terminal Agency Coordinator(TAC)
responsibilities. The Commission did not need to ask any clarifying
questions and agreed with the reasoning and justification for the changes.

THAT THE REVISED SUPPORT OPERATIONS ADMIN
SPECIALIST JOB DESCRIPTION BE REVISED AS
WRITTEN. MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY.
It is to be recorded that the Police Records Specialist Eligibility
List was certified outside of a regular meeting commencing on
September 5th, 2017 and ending on September 4th, 2018, or until
depleted.
