PERMIT CONDITIONS: 1: ***BUILDING DEPARTMENT CONDITIONS*** 2: No changes shall be made to the approved plans unless approved by the design professional in responsible charge and the Building Official. 3: All mechanical work shall be inspected and approved under a separate permit issued by the City of Tukwila Permit Center (206/431-3670). 4: All permits, inspection records, and approved plans shall be at the job site and available to the inspectors prior to start of any construction. Strapping shall be at points within the upper one-third and lower one-third of the water heater's vertical dimension. A minimum distance of 4 -inches shall be maintained above the controls with the strapping. 12: All electrical work shall be inspected and approved under a separate permit issued by the City of Tukwila Building Department (206-431-3670). 13: VALIDITY OF PERMIT: The issuance or granting of a permit shall not be construed to be a permit for, or an approval of, any violation of any of the provisions of the building code or of any other ordinances of the City of Tukwila. Permits presuming to give authority to violate or cancel the provisions of the code or other ordinances of the City of Tukwila shall not be valid. The issuance of a permit based on construction documents and other data shall not prevent the Building Official from requiring the correction of errors in the construction documents and other data. 14: ***FIRE DEPARTMENT CONDITIONS*** 15: The attached set of building plans have been reviewed by the Fire Prevention Bureau and are acceptable with the following concerns: • • 16: A Type 1 hood shall be installed at or above all commercial cooking appliances and domestic cooking appliances used for commercial purposes that produce grease vapors. Each required commercial kitchen exhaust hood and duct system required by section 610 of the International Fire Code to have a Type 1 hood shall be protected with an approved automatic fire -extinguishing system installed in accordance with this code. (IFC 610.2, IFC 904.2.1 and IFC 904.11) Automatic fire -extinguishing systems shall comply with UL 300 or other equivalent standards and shall be installed in accordance with the requirements of the listing. (NFPA 96, 10.2.3) 17: Type I hood systems shall be designed and installed to automatically activate the exhaust fan whenever cooking operations occur. The activation of the exhaust fan shall occur through an interlock with the cooking appliances, by means of heat sensors or by means of other approved methods. (IMC 507.2.1.1) 18: All new automatic fire -extinguishing systems and all modifications to existing automatic fire -extinguishing systems shall have fire department review and approval of drawings prior to installation or modification. 19: Portable fire extinguishers shall be provided within a 30 -foot (9144 mm) travel distance of commercial - type cooking equipment. Cooking equipment involving vegetable or animal oils and fats shall be protected by a Class K rated portable extinguisher. (IFC 904.11.5) 20: U.L. central station supervision is required. (City Ordinance #2327) 21: H.V.A.C. units rated at greater than 2,000 cfm require auto -shutdown devices. These devices shall be separately zoned in the alarm panel and local U.L. central station supervision is required. (City Ordinance #2328) 22: H.V.A.C. systems supplying air in excess of 2,000 cubic feet per minute to enclosed spaces within buildings shall be equipped with an automatic shutoff. Smoke detectors shall be labeled by an approved agency for air -duct installation and shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions. The following is an item by item response to the plumbing plan check comments for the above mentioned project: Mechanical: 1. Type 1 hood should be checked on the permit equipment schedule. 2. Sheets M200 and M201 contain all the information on the type I hoods and exhaust fans. Please see these sheets. 3. The construction manager has made arrangements for a special inspection of the type 1 systems. 4. The exhaust air quantities are low enough to allow all the makeup air to come into the building via the AC. equipment in the required outside air. This eliminates the need for a makeup air unit. Please see air balance schedule on M102. 5. The hoods are provided with temperature sensors that will start the exhaust fans upon sensing the rise in temperature. See drawing M200 plan view of Hood#2 and section view of Hood #1. These sensors are also shown on the control wiring diagram on M210 as TS] and TS2. (GENERAL NOTE) PLAN SUBMITTALS: (Min. size 11x17 to maximum size of 24x36; all sheets shall be the same size. New revised plan sheets shall be the same size sheets as those previously submitted.) This shall need some clarification as to whether the Type I hood installation is to be included with this permit, since it was not marked off on the permit equipment schedule. Provide that clarification along with the following information/specifications (items 2-6) for the hood system. 2. Provide the manufacturers clearance specifications with details and dimensions for duct materials; where the hood system is installed against the wall and ceiling framing. Include the UL listings for the hood wall coverings materials. (2009 IMC 507.4 & 507.9) 3. The information shall be noted on the plans: "Type I hoods and ducts shall be inspected by approved inspection agencies that satisfy the requirements as to qualifications and reliability. Final inspection reports from such approved agencies of the Type I hood and duct shall be accepted by the code official after the special inspections of hood and ducts have been completed." (2009 IMC 107.2.4 & IMC 506.3.2.5) 4. Provide clarification as to what will be supplying make-up air (MUA) for the Type I hood. The method of MUA compensating the hood shall follow guidelines as specified in 2009 IMC SECTION 508. Please provide this information on the plans. (IMC SECTION 508 & specifically 508.1) 5. Ducts shall be considered to be concealed where installed in shafts or covered by coatings or wraps that prevent the ductwork from being visually inspected on all sides. The permit holder shall be responsible to provide the necessary equipment and perform the grease duct leakage test. A light test shall be performed to determine that all welded and brazed joints are liquid tight. A light test shall be performed by passing a lamp having a power rating of not less than 100 watts through the entire section of ductwork to be tested. The lamp shall be open so as to emit light equally in all directions perpendicular to the duct walls. A test shall be performed for the entire duct system, including the hood -to -duct connection. The duct work shall be permitted to be tested in sections, provided that every joint is tested.
