These Grease Ducts were located from the Roof Area down to the upper level storage area and then into the kitchen from grid lines A to C/9 to 10. This inspection was performed as the contractor placed light inside of the Grease Duct at each welded connection. Inspector then as the area around the duct was dark verified that there were no pin holes at the welded locations. After this inspection was completed inspector verified that there were a total of 4 pin holes in the Roof Area and 5 pin holes in the Upper level storage area. These holes were then marked and welded by the contractor. These locations were then inspected to assure that each hole had been filled. Furnish necessary equipment block-outs, construction drawings, curbs, and the like, to roofing Section prior to roofing. B. Install A.C. Units and Heaters per details on drawings and in accordance With manufacturer's recommendations. 237000-3 NORDSTROM - SOUTHCENTER (005) CAFE REMODEL TUKWILA, WASHINGTON SECTION 237000 - CENTRAL HVAC EQUIPMENT C. Install air conditioning units on factory curb or sleepers, as required. Factory curb to sit on leveling curb provided under other sections. Coordinate unit locations end Installation details with Architect and General Contractor., D. Coordinate design and Installation of heating and ventilating and air conditioning system with other trades. E. Startup: Unit manufacturer shall be responsible for initial startup and checkout of ail components. Cycle units through all stages to assure proper operation of equipment. Check all controls for proper calibration. Start-up services shall be provided by the Trans Company. Provide detailed start-up report. 3.2 INSTALLATION OF REFRIGERATION PiPING A. Layout refrigerant piping system in manner to prevent liquid refrigerant from entering the compressor and so that oil will return to the compressor. Slope all horizontal euction lines toward the compressor. B. In suction line, provide a low micron suction fitter near the compressor. if the pressure drop exceeds 2 psi across the filter after 24 hours operation, replace filter. Test for leaks, evacuate, and recharge system. In liquid line, provide a low micron liquid filter dryer. C. Take special care to keep all tubing clean and dry. Use only sealed -at -the -mill (ACR) copper tubing. D. Install all refrigerant piping straight and free from kinks and restrictions, properly supported to minimize vibration. Provide straps or hangers at 8' spacing for 1./2" lines, 6' spacing for 1" lines and 5' spacing for 1-1/2" and larger lines. E. Make all copper -to -copper and copper -to -brass brazed joints with 15% sllver/phosicopper brazing alloy. Use a suitable brazing flux for brazing copper to brass. Pass a slow stream of dry nitrogen through the tubing at all times while brazing to eliminate the formation of copper oxide Inside the tubing. 3.3 'TESTING OF REFRIGERATION PIPING A. Testing: 1. When the refrigerant connections have been completed, the compressor suction and discharge valve (or receiver outlet valve In the case of a condensing unit) shall be closed and the balance of the system shall be tested to 150 psi pressure (or higher as required by code) with all other valves wide open. 2. Accomplish the pressure test by adding refrigerant to 10 psi and nitrogen to bring the pressure up to the required amount, 3. Carefully test all joints, using soap bubble method or an electronic leak detector. if leaks are found, mark the spot. 4. After all Joints are tested, discharge the gas, repair ail leaks, then repeat the test. 5, When testing has been completed, reduce the pressure in the system to atmospheric pressure. B. Evacuating: 1. Evacuate the refrigerant system at least two times, using a two-stage vacuum pump capable of pulling to 100 microns or better on itself, and as manufactured by J/B industries, Robinair. Do not, under any circumstances, use the system compressor to evacuate the system. 2.. Connect the vacuum pump to the system through 5/8" 0,D, or larger line connected to a flange adapter installed between the suction service valve and the compressor suction ports. Connect a second line to the charging valve in the liquid line to allow evacuation from both high and low sided simultaneously. This second line shall be the same size as the liquid line. During evacuation, do not operate hermetic or semi -hermetic motors because of the danger of insulation breakdown in verydeep vacuum. To safeguard against this, pull the disconnect switch and remove the fuses, or make sure that the circuit breaker is in the "off" position. 237000-4 06/25/13 NORDSTROM - SOUTHCENTER (003) CAFE REMODEL 'TUKWILA, WASHINGTON SECTION 237000 - CENTRAL HVAC EQUIPMENT Evacuate each system 3 times to 500 microns or less ('(1/2 mm of mercury) absolute pressure. Measure the vacuum with an electronic vacuum gauge or other suitable vacuum indicator which can be read accurately below 500 microns. Prove the first vacuum by holding It at least one hour with no increase in pressure (taking all changes in ambient temperature into account) to above 500 microns. C, Charging: 1, After the third evacuation, add the proper amount of refrigerant, check the oil level In the compressor, and add or remove oil as necessary to bring the level In the compressor to the middle of the sight glass. 2. Use only oil recommended by the manufacturer of the compressor and delivered to the job site in sealed containers with all labels Intact and legible at the time of use. 3. Charge all refrigerant into the system through a drier and using only, a refrigerant delivered to the job site In factory -charged cylinder. 4.. Do not start motors until lubrication has been checked and the proper oil and/or grease has been added where required. 3A START, "TEST AND ADJUST A. Start and test each piece of equipment to manufacturer's specification for proper functioning of all controls, During final inspection by Engineer, provide service man to demonstrate equipment. B. Air balancing is specified under Section 230013. C, Inspect rooftop units and prepare Inspection Report for submittal under Section 017700. D. Prevent short (rapid) cycling of HVAC equipment during special testing for smoke evacuation, etc. 3.5 INSTRUCTION OF OWNER'S PERSONNEL A. At completion of checkout and when all systems are operational, the unit manufacturer's qualified technician man shall schedule a 2 -hour insstruciion period for the Owner's personnel toacquaint them with the unit operation. Run all units through all cycles to demonstrate equipment operation and proper control sequence.
