The proposed sign area for the front elevation is too large. The wall area is 425 square feet. The maximum permitted sign area for this size wall is 21.25 square feet. The proposed sign, according to the plans submitted shows a wall area of 25 square feet. It is possible to increase the sign area a maximum of six percent of the exposed wall area. The sign area can be increased 50 percent for each doubling of the required setback. The required setback in the Tukwila Urban Center is 15 square feet, thus the wall must be setback at least 30 feet. You have two options: 1. Decrease the sign area of the wall sign on the front elevation. The sign must be no greater than 20 square feet. Please submit new plans if you choose this option. 2. Apply for Special Permission from the Director to increase the sign area. The application material is enclosed with this letter. Please provide new pl ns that take into account the above comment. It is the responsibility of the installer to obtain the electrical permit and inspections from the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries at (206) 248-6630.
