Instead of responding to the City's letter, the sign was simply altered without a valid sign permit. The above sign permit application has been closed and a new permit application will need to be submitted in order to modify the sign. Please note that the City's Code Enforcement Division has begun enforcement procedures against the business and property owner for illegally modifying a sign without permit. However, the both the freestanding and wall sign have been replaced. It was noted to you in a letter dated November 17, 2004, that in order to increase the height of the existing freestanding sign it be necessary to move the sign in order to meet setbacks and submit for structure review of the sign. Pursuant to TMC 19.32.070 Freestanding Signs — Any freestanding sign shall be set back from all property lines a distance at least equal to the overall height of the sign. In order to increase the sign height, the existing structure will have to be moved which would require an additional $84 for a structural review.
