Dear Mr. Hairer:
Thank you for your recent cover letter in response to the plan review comments.
Regarding the proposed signage program, the proposed wall sign locations will meet code
requirement with the exception of the "Point of Sale" banner on the North elevation that
cannot be approved. Please note that only one wall sign per exposed building face is
allowed. As a point of clarification, the Northeast, North and Northwest elevations are
considered three separate building faces; therefore, one wall sign not exceeding 20% of the
exposed building face may be attached to each face. The 'Em' decal sign on the Northeast
elevation, the `Em: Extra Mile' sign on the North elevation and the `Em' decal sign on the
Northwest elevation all meet allowed dimension requirements.
The freestanding sign revisions you propose meet code as well. As the sign will now be
under 15 feet, structural review is no longer required. The check you included with your
letter is being returned and is enclosed. A fee of $100 rather than $184 must be paid. It will
be fine for the contractor to provide the needed documents upon arrival.
For the application to be approved, you must send a revised drawing showing the proposed
signage for the North elevation.

Dear Ms. Ballentine:
This is the cover letter you requested in response to your plan review comments. Additional we
have clouded all changes for your ease of review.
It appears that we developed our work from documents that was supplied to us and was not
substantiated. We dispatched a staff member from our Bellevue office to perform a survey of the
site so we can properly depict our client's proposed signage program.
We have provide dimensions on the Site Plan to reflect where our existing C-45 Free Standing is
located in relationship to the property line to establish the set back. What we are now proposing
is not exceed to the set back distance of 14'-6" and have noted it on the sign elevation 4/Al.
Secondly, we have indicated all signs that are proposed and signs that are to be removed on the
Site Plan. Also, we have included the buildings plan dimensions on the Site Plan in addition to
indicating the building height on the exterior elevations.
Thirdly, we have included an additional $184.00 for the 4th sign and the structural review.
With regards to the contractor's license, we are the Applicant. When the contractor arrives to
pick up the permit they will provide the needed documents.

Dear Mr. Hairer:
The Department of Community Development received your sign permit application for
new signage for the Chevron Station located at 10805 Tukwila International Blvd.
The application as submitted does not meet Title 19 of the Tukwila Municipal Code.
Two freestanding signs, pictured below, are currently non -conforming because only one
freestanding sign is permitted for each site (Section 19.32.140 (D) (1)). The proposed
work will require that all signage come into conformance with City standards.
Section 19.30.030 (B) (1) of the Tukwila Municipal: Code addresses removal of non-
conforming signs: "Application for and issuance of a sign permit that complies with this
Code is required: For relocation, re -erection, alteration, replacementor change in any
way to a legal non -conforming sign -the structure or sign panel/face/copy...." Please
include a map showing all signs on the premise and indicating which ones will remain
and which will be removed.
It is unclear from your application whether the freestanding monument sign, Sign 4, will
be relocated. Regardless, because it will be altered, and therefore requires a permit
(19.12.010 (A)), it will need to undergo structural review, as it is taller than 15 feet and
greater than 30 square feet. The sign permit application does not have the setback
distance listed for the freestanding monument sign; please provide the measurement of
the proposed setback for the sign and note that it must meet the setback requirement,
which is one foot from all property lines for every foot in height. The proposed
freestanding monument sign is 16 feet in height; thus it must be 16 feet from all property
lines. Please indicate property lines on the site plan.

Other issues that need to be addressed in your application include:
Additional fees for both the structural review of the freestanding sign ($84) and the
fourth sign ($100) must be paid (you have submitted $300 for a total of four signs that
each require a fee of $100 per sign).
A Washington State contractor's license must be supplied.
Please include building dimensions on drawings where appropriate, including height
and length.
The application as submitted is incomplete, and the above -listed additional information
must be submitted. When you resubmit, please enclose a cover letter addressing the
items raised in this letter.

INSPECTIONS.
If the sign needs structural review, the applicant or installer is required to call the Building Division at 431-3670 for footing or bracket
inspections. Footing inspections must take place before concrete is poured. Bracket inspections must take place before sign is
installed.
A structural inspection is required for all signs when installation is complete. The applicant or installer is required to call the Planning
Division at 431-3670 for a final inspection.
It is the responsibility of the installer to obtain the electrical permit and inspections from the Washin ton State Department of Labor and
Industries at (206) 248-6630.
