Sign permit number S05-043 is for installation of wall and canopy signs and S05-051 is for the installation of a. freestanding sign at the property. The proposed signs and various aspects of the sign package do not meet the City's sign code: 1. TMC 19.32.160 provides the design requirements for signs at Service Stations. One sign mounted on an exposed building face is permitted for each street frontage and shall not exceed 20 percent of the exposed face area to which it is attached. Such face -mounted signs may be illuminated. Under permit number S05-043 there are three signs proposed, two logos on the canopy and one sign on the service station building with three signs proposed to be illuminated. The subject property only borders two streets and thus is only permitted to have two illuminated wall signs. Thus, one of the three signs must be removed. The plans for S05-043 also shows some type of advertising along the wall of the main building. These types of signs will count towards the total number of signs permitted on the site, thus there are now three wall signs located on the main building. These signs need to be removed from the plan sets. If AM/PM Arco wishes to have these signs they can be permitted as temporary signs, however, the City has limits on the number of times the signs may be displayed and time such signs can be displayed. 2. There is still an outstanding fee due of $84 due on the freestanding sign. This fee is for the required structural review. The City received a check with the original permit application for $89. On June 20, 2005, the City staff spoke with Ms. Moderger who WW1 C....C..;t,, 41.1nn . However as of today the City has not received the check. The application process that AM/PM has chosen to use is very confusing. AM/PM has chosen to use two sign permits and two sign contractors for signs being installed on the same property. While S05-051 which should just be for the freestanding sign, however, the plans reference signs that are part of S05-043. Given this confusion the City is sending back both sign permit applications. Coordination between the two contractors needs to occur before resubmitting the sign permit application, which will be consolidated under one sign permit.
