INSPECTIONS
If the sign needs structural review, the applicant or installer is required to call the Building Division at 431-3670 for footing or bracket
inspections. Footing Inspections must take place before concrete is poured. Bracket inspections must take place before sign is
installed.
A structural inspection is required for all signs when installation is complete. The applicant or installer is required to call the Planning
Division at 431-3670 fora final inspection.
It is the responsibility of the installer to obtain the electrical permit and inspections from the Washington State Department of Labor and
Industries at (206) 248-6630.
SIGN PERMIT APPLICATION IS VALID FOR 180 DAYS AFTER ISSUANCE.

DATE: February 16, 2006
On February 9, 2006 Laird Donaldson submitted a sign application for Bricklayers Local #1,
located at 15208 52nd Ave S, Tukwila, WA 98188. The application was for two signs; however,
only one of them required a permit.
According to section 19.12.050, number 10 of the Tukwila Zoning Code, "Memorial signs or
tablets, names of buildings, and dates of erection, when cut into any masonry surface or when
constructed of bronze or other non-combustible material" do not require a permit. One of the two
signs for which the applicant applied is a granite slab to mark the entrance to a meeting hall;
therefore meeting the requirements for a sign permit exception.
The applicant paid for two sign permits at the cost of $100 each. Since one of these signs was
exempt, the Bricklayers Association should receive a refund in the amount of $100.
