RE: Notice of Incomplete Application, Cher's Ono Malasadas (S07-002)
Dear Ms. Williams:
On January 17, 2007, the above sign permit application was a submitted to the Department
of Community Development. After a review of the submittal requirements for a sign permit,
the above application is deemed incomplete as of January 23, 2007.
The following items need to be addressed and/or submitted to make the application
complete:
1. Please provide three sets of plans showing the proposed signs that will be installed
on the espresso stand.
These items need to be addressed before the pending sign permit application can be
reviewed by City staff. When you resubmit please provide a cover letter addressing this
letter.
Planning staff has conducted a preliminary review of the application, please note that the
proposed signs can not be greater than five percent of the wall area. This would limit the
size of the signs to 7.2 square feet. Your current proposal to install two signs at 10 square
feet apiece would not meet code.
Please note that TMC 18.140.070 (E) requires that the Department shall cancel an
incomplete application if the applicant fails to submit the additional information required
within 90 days following notification from the Department that the application is incomplete.

Street frontage of the entire premises where the sign will be located (feet). Generally, only
one freestanding sign is allowed per premises.
Height of building (feet). Generally, signs may not be higher than the building with which they
are associated
Size of sign face (square feet). Structural review is required for pole signs with faces 30
square feet or more in area
Sign height (feet -inches). Structural review is required for signs 15 feet or more in height.
Distance from closest edge of sign to property lines (feet). Generally, signs must be set
back from all property lines a distance equal to their height.

INSPECTIONS
If the sign needs structural review, the applicant or installer is required to call the Building Division at 431-3670 for footing or bracket
inspections. Footing inspections must take place before concrete is poured. Bracket inspections must take place before sign is
installed.
A structural inspection is required for all signs when installation is complete. The applicant or installer is required to call the Planning
Division at 431-3670 for a final inspection.
It is the responsibility of the installer to obtain the electrical permit and inspections from the Washington State Department of Labor and
Industries at (206) 248-6630.
SIGN PERMIT APPLICATION IS VALID FOR 180 DAYS AFTER ISSUANCE.
