The application was deemed complete for the necessary information to begin review of the application on. February 2, 2007. A review of the application shows that the proposed sign area will not meet the applicable size provisions for walls signs laid out in the Tukwila Municipal Code (TMC). The exposed building face (EBF) where the sign will be located is 787.5 square feet. This EBF area would be permitted to have a wall sign no greater than 36.5 square feet, thus the proposed sign of 49.7 square feet is too large. The size of the sign can be increased 50 percent for every doubling of the required setback, however the sign cannot be greater than 6 percent of the EBF. In this case the sign could be allowed to be 47.25 square feet with special permission from the Director. Enclosed you will find a special permission from the Director application to increase the allowable sign area. Please revise your sign permit application to address the comments noted in this letter.
