As currently proposed, the sign permit for TLM cannot be approved. Wall signs are permitted for the exposed building face that is occupied by a particular business. The building layout clearly shows that there is one suite within the building. Only one business can be given credit for the EBF. It may be possible to permit the TLM sign as part of the total signage for Act 3 Catering. The allowable square footage for the west wall is 37.84 square feet. Only one sign is permitted per exposed building face, so it may be possible to draw one box around the TLM and Act 3 Catering sign so that the box met or was below the total allowed sign, than the TLM copy could be permitted. Most likely the TLM sign and the Act 3 sign would have to be located in close proximity to each other. The City would still consider this to be one sign. Please not that the box that is drawn around the signs must be rectangular that extends to the furthest points of each sign. Your next step is to address these comments and provide revised plans. Act 3 Catering and TLM are under common ownership. TMC 19.32.140 only permits a business to have one wall per exposed building face. The current proposal is to have two signs on one wall. The maximum permitted sign that may be located on the proposed location is 37.86 square feet. It may be possible to install both the Act 3 display and the TLM display on the wall, if the total sign area is less than 37.86 square feet. However, the total sign area is calculated by drawing one rectangle around all copy. Another option would be to locate one of the displays on a separate facade. Footing inspections must take place before concrete is poured. Bracket inspections must take place before sign is installed. A structural inspection is required for all signs when installation is complete. The applicant or installer is required to call the Planning Division at 431-3670 for a final inspection. It is the responsibility of the installer to obtain the electrical permit and inspections from the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries at (206) 248-6630.
