The sign area has been calculated out and is less than 25% as allowed by code. ATM Signs - The Key Bank copy has been removed from both of the Key Bank ATM surrounds. The application includes a total of five signs and the business is allowed a maximum of two signs. The business may have two wall signs, located on different building faces, or one wall sign and one freestanding sign. Below are some options you may want to consider. Wall Signs- The two 40 sq. ft. wall signs meet the wall sign size requirements, however as previously mentioned, each business is permitted a maximum of two signs. If you would like to install two wall signs, the freestanding sign must be removed. ATM Signs- Each ATM Sign will count as a wall sign, unless the sizes are reduced so that the messages of the signs are not discernable from the public right-of-way. Each business is also allowed to have one non -illuminated sign, 4 square feet or less, that does not require a permit; you may choose to revise one of your ATM signs to meet these requirements. Freestanding Sign- In order for "24 Hour Banking" text to be added to the existing freestanding sign, the total freestanding sign area (calculated by drawing one contiguous polygon around the existing sign face and the added text) must be not be greater than 100 square feet per side, as listed in TMC 19.32.140E. The freestanding sign height and setback from the property line were not submitted with your application; please provide this information with your revisions. Please submit revised plans to meet the requirements mentioned above within 90 days from the date this letter was issued (September 5, 2009), or your application will be denied. Plans may be submitted in PDF format to cthomsontc'i ci.tukwila.wa.us. As you might be aware, the City is currently in the process of updating its sign code. It is likely that the new sign code will provide some flexibility that is not current provided under the existing code. You may want to pursue installing additional signs after the new sign code has been adopted. However, until the new sign code is adopted, the proposed application must be consistent with the existing sign code.
