Attached is a photo taken today of the Franz building. In it, you will see that the large wall sign has been painted
over in compliance with the issues noted in your letter of March 4th

RE: Franz Bakery Sign Permit S10-051
Dear Ms. Kirk:
On September 16, 2010, the City of Tukwila issued a sign permit for the installation of an
awning sign for Franz Baker at 17500 West Valley Hwy in Tukwila. Today, City staff
conducted an inspection of the sign and it was revealed that a second wall sign was in
place on the same wall where the awning sign is located. The City cannot issue a final
for you sign permit application until this issue is resolved. The second wall sign must
either be removed or permitted. Since City code only allows one sign on this wall, if
Franz Bakery intends to keep the larger sign than the sign on the awning will need to be
removed.
The City would appreciate compliance by March 14, 2011. If compliance is not achieved
by this date the City will commence formal code enforcement action.

inspections. Footing inspections must take place before concrete is poured. Bracket inspections must take place before sign is
installed.
A structural inspection is required for all signs when installation is complete. The applicant or installer is required to call the Planning
Division at 431-3670 for a final inspection.
It is the responsibility of the installer to obtain the Electrical Permit and inspections from the City of Tukwila Permit Center at
(206) 431-3670.

The Tukwila Municipal Code (TMC) 19.12.180 requires that all sign contractors performing work within
the City of Tukwila sign an affidavit acknowledging that they have read and understand the City's Sign
Code. The purpose of the affidavit is to protect Tukwila businesses and residents from sign contractors
who may perform work without obtaining required permits or perform work outside the scope of an issued
permit.
