TUKWILA CITY COUNCIL
COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING
MINUTES
Council President Bohrer called the Tukwila City Council
Committee of the Whole Meeting to order.
Tukwila City Hall
Council Chambers
LIONEL C. BOHRER, GEORGE D. HILL, J. REID JOHANSON, DANIEL J.
SAUL, DWAYNE D. TRAYNOR, GARY L. VAN DUSEN.
Councilman Bohrer noted that Council has completed review of
18.02 through 18.20. Tonight's review will be on Chapter 18.24-
Planned Unit Development.
Fred Satterstrom, Associate Planner, explained that this is
Draft 2 of Chapter 18.24. The Planning Commission has reviewed
it again and made additional changes. The R -P district included
in Ordinance #251 is proposed to be entirely deleted from the
zoning code. It is obsolete and is an intrusion in the Single
Family district.
Councilman Bohrer verified that a zone district is being
eliminated that was not used anyway.
18.24.010 Fred Satterstrom explained that the concept of the Planned Unit
Purpose Development is that some off setting public benefit is derived
in exchange for increased density.
After discussion, there were no changes made in Section 18.24.010.
Mr. Satterstrom explained that the Planning Commission removed
the R -1 zone districts from this section. They felt the PUD
might undermine the stability of the single family district.
Councilman Bohrer asked why this was restricted to the multiple
residence districts. Mayor Bauch reminded Council that, under
cascading zoning, you could put a PUD in the Industrial /Commerical
Districts.
Council made no changes in Section 18.24.020.
No changes suggested for Section 18.24.030.
No changes made in Section 18.24.040.
Council discussed if one acre was too small for a PUD, but made
no change in Section 18.24.050.
No change to Section 18.24.060.
Councilman Hill, Johanson and Van Dusen left the meeting.
Mr. Satterstrom explained why the words "and yard requirements"
were added to line 18. He called attention to 18.24.100-
Relationship to Adjacent Areas and said the two stipulations here
could be placed under .070.
It was decided, at this point, that Council would adjourn and
continue the review of 18.24.070 at the next meeting.
MOVED BY TRAYNOR, SECONDED BY SAUL, THAT THE COMMITTEE OF THE
WHOLE MEETING ADJOURN. MOTION CARRIED.
