BOHRER, Council President; MABEL J. HARRIS, GEORGE D. HILL, PRESENT DAN SAUL, DWAYNE D. TRAYNOR, GARY L. VAN DUSEN. CITY OFFICIALS IN ATTENDANCE 1978 Priorities and goals. Philosophical goals. MAYOR EDGAR D. BAUCH, POLICE CHIEF JOHN SHEETS, FIRE CHIEF HUBERT CRAWLEY, DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS TERENCE MONAGHAN, DIRECTOR OF OFFICE OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT KJELL STOKNES, ACCOUNTING OFFICER SHIRLEY KRISTOFFERSON, CITY CLERK MAXINE ANDERSON, ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT JOHN McFARLAND, COUNCIL INTERN ROBERT RICHARDS. After discussion the following goals were established for 1980: 1. Maintain producity of City employees. 2. Street improvements. a. Complete undergrounding in current Tukwila. b. Continue street upgrading in residential area, as desired. c. Implement the transportation study. d. Investigate facilities to accommodate bicycles and motorcycles. e. Implement the sidewalks in all of the business area. f. Complete plan for Interurban Corridor. 3. Update water system comprehensive plan. 4. Complete update of T.M.r. 5. Complete capital improvement program for Fester Golf Course. 6. Trail improvements. a. Construct Christensen Trail to T -line bridge and Tukwila Boulevard. b. Complete and maintain residential trail program. c. Acquire right -of -way for public access along complete bank of Green River. d. Trail extension all of the way through Tukwila. 7. Acquire development rights to hillsides along I -5. 8. Continue acquisition of Puget Power right -of -way on Interurban Avenue. 9. Update City shops for maximum utilization and productivity and implement quantity buying and inventory control. 10. Conduct a fire study of future and potential fire needs. 11. Complete L.I.D. No. 28. 1. Increase image of Tukwila as a City. 2. Establish zip code for Tukwila. 3. Annex areas wishing annexation. 4. Reduce fragmentation of geographical political boundaries within Tukwila. 5. Increase public input to the City Council. Fire Dept. discussion. Council President Bohrer suggested buildings 5,000 square feet and over be required to install sprinkler systems when they are built. He said contractors are building just under the minimum requirement so they will not have to install sprinkler systems. People are evading the intent of the fire code. Police Dept. Councilman Traynor suggested the Police Department investigate discussion. the possiblity of buying Hondas in an attempt to conserve gasoline. Chief Sheets said the Police Department has looked at the energy problem and they are working on it in- house. City Clerk Dept. City Clerk Maxine Anderson said her department is currently going through old records and they are determining the requirements of the State archives as to what files are kept indefinitely and what can be destroyed. She said an inventory of deeds and easements of the City will be made. The possibility of micro- filming will be studied. General. Council President Bohrer requested that each Department submit a brief narrative statement of their goals in the budget intro- duction for the coming year.
