MINUTES
January 2, 2018 5:30 p.m. Tukwila Community Center
1. Call to Order: Chair Gerie Ventura called the meeting to order at 5:35 p.m.
2. Attendance:
a. Commissioners — Scott Kruize, Marie Parish, Steve Miller, Verna Seal, Linda McLeod
b. Guests—Angie Benedetti (KCLS), Sam McLeod
c. Staff — Kirstin May
3. Approval of Minutes: One correction in the November 7, 2017 minutes - The name of the KCLS
Chief Financial Officer is Nicholas Lee not Kenneth Lee. Linda McLeod made a motion to approve
the minutes as corrected. Verna Seal seconded the motion and it passed. There was unanimous
approval for the minutes as amended.
4. Welcome - Verna Seal was welcomed as a new member of the Tukwila Library Advisory Board.
5. Citizen Comment - None
6. Unfinished Business - None
7. New Business
a. 2018 Budget —The proposed budget was reviewed and there were no comments.
8. Reports of Board Members/Announcements
a. Parks & Recreation, Kirstin May
1. Due to a reorganization in the Parks & Recreation Department, Shannon Fisher has
been assigned as the new staff liaison beginning with the February meeting.
. KCLS, Angie Benedetti
1. Staff is currently compiling annual circulation for 2017.
ii. The New KCLS Director, Lisa Rosenblum will begin on January 16, 2018. She comes
to KCLS from the Brooklyn Library where she was the Director and Chief Librarian.
iii. KCLS is hosting another night of storytelling with Tukwila Confluence on January 24,
2018 at 6:30pm.
iv. Staff training for the Virtual Reality Project grant will start next week.
v. The library is working on programming for Tukwila School District early release
days.
vi. In the spring, the Tukwila Library will be presenting "Family Prime Time" where
families work together on literacy activities and share a meal. There will be
volunteer opportunities for TLAB members. Details to follow.

Adjournment: At 6:27pm Steve Milier moved to close the meeting. Verna Seal seconded the motion.
The motion passed unanimously.
