DISCUSSION TIMELINE: August 15 Resolution approval at Regular Meeting. City Clerk's Office would begin process for establishing Pro /Con Committees August 16 Resolution, certified by City Clerk, due to King County Elections. (Hand delivery to Elections Office by Clerk's staff) August 19 Explanatory Statement due from City Attorney to King County August 24 Pro /Con Statements due from citizens to King County August 26 Rebuttal statements due from citizens to King County COSTS: Costs for both the November 2011 General Election and the February 2012 Special Election were provided by the King County Election's Office on August 3, 2011 and are shown below. In summary, since Tukwila is already participating in the November General Election (by way of our elected official races), the only added cost for an additional voter pamphlet page (for the ballot title, explanatory statement, pro /con statements) would be $300 -$500. If we placed an Advisory Vote on the February 2012 Special Election (Tukwila does not have other measures for that election), the estimated cost to the City would be $13,000 $15,000 plus $600 -$800 for the voter pamphlet. General Election 2011 Election cost: $8,800 to $9,200 (This cost is for our elected official races and will not increase with the addition of an Advisory Vote) Voters' Pamphlet cost (required for the General election): $600 to $800 (Added cost of $300 -$500 for the additional voter pamphlet page for an Advisory Vote) February Spring Special 2012 The following costs would be incurred to add the Advisory Vote to this Election. Election cost: $13,000 to $15,000 Voters' Pamphlet cost (voluntary for the Spring Special election): $600 to $800 King County emphasized these are ESTIMATED costs, particularly the February 2012 election. 355 356
