SUBJECT: Introduction of Crime Map
ISSUE
The Tukwila Police Department has a new provider for its public crime map.
BACKGROUND
In 2011, Tukwila Police Department launched its public facing crime map via
CrimeReports.com. It was based on Justice, the records management system, and provided the
public a view of basic case report data. The purchase of Spillman, the current records
management system, included a full crime analytics package which also includes a public facing
crime map. The police department is ready to push this website to the public.
DISCUSSION
Information only.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
As of March 2017, the police department is no longer paying $99/month to CrimeReports.com.
The new public crime map is free via LexisNexis, the provider of Spillman Analytics.
RECOMMENDATION
Information Only.
