HomeMy WebLinkAboutTLAB 2017-06-06 Minutes Tukwila Library Advisory Board June 6, 2017 Minutes Attendance: Linda McLeod, Scott Kruize, Marie Parrish, Kirstin May – Parks and Recreation, Steve Miller, Angie Benedetti - KCLS Meeting called to order at 5:41 pm. Approval of minutes: Minutes from April 4, 2017 and May 2, 2017 meetings were read. Marie Parrish moved to approve the minutes and Linda McLeod seconded the motions. Motions were approved. Citizen Comments: None Business: Bylaw discussion - There were questions about the Secretary's duties which were clarified. Questions about the trainings will be addressed at the next meeting. It was decided to change the Order of Business (Article V Meetings Section C) to: Call to Order Roll Call Approval of Minutes Citizen Comments Unfinished Business New Business Reports of Board Members/Announcements Agenda Items for Next Meeting Adjournment 1.Kirstin May reminded members that bylaws are guidelines and can be amended. 2. Budget Update - $840 of $5,000 budget has been used. $250 of that is a membership in Washington Recreation and Park Association. TLAB members are platinum members of WRPA. th 3. Summer Parks and Recreation programs - July 4 – Tukwila's Family th Fourth at the Fort Dent, July 29 – Touch-A-Truck at Westfield Southcenter, th August 18 – Tukwila Kids Festival. th 4. KCLS – Summer Reading Program will kickoff on June 10. Every age group is eligible to participate. 5.KCLS Trustees Board will increase from 5 members to 7 members. Members of the board are appointed by the King County Executive. 6.Steven Smith is the Interim Director as a search for a new director is conducted. KCLS is still taking input on the Strategic Vision. TLAB members are encouraged to participate in the survey on the KCLS website. 7.It was a fantastic opening and everyone is enjoying the new library. The staff is still working out the “bugs”, ie. the environmental controls. 8.The date of next meeting was discussed. Marie Parrish moved that TLAB not meet again until September 5, 2017. Linda McLeod seconded the motion. It was approved. Agenda Items for Next Meeting: Approval of Bylaws Board Member Reports and Announcements: Scott Kruize announced that a group called Kaboom was asking for volunteers to help build a new playground area at Cascade View Park on July 8, 2017. Details are on the city website. Meeting adjourned at 6:40 pm.
