HomeMy WebLinkAboutTLAB 2017-09-05 Minutes Tukwila Library Advisory Board September 5, 2017 Minutes Attendance: Linda McLeod, Steve Miller, Marie Parrish, Scott Kruize, Angie Benedetti – KCLS Meeting called to order at 5:35. Approval of minutes – Linda McLeod moved to accept the June 6, 2017 minutes. Scott Kruize seconded the motion and the motion was approved. Citizen Comment – None Business: Budget - Budget expenditures were reviewed. A request was made to have paper copies of the projected budget for 2017 available to members at next meeting. Marie Parrish will relay the request to Kirsten May. Summer Reading Program Update – The KCLS reading program ended st August 31. There are no numbers yet. Free books were provided by the KCLS Foundation and given out to participants. Angie Benedetti discussed the September calendar at the Library. Welcoming thrd week will be September 18 through September 23. Wednesday, September th 20, Action Tukwila will sponsor a storytelling event – Tukwila Confluence: Arrivals. There will be 3 featured speakers and an open microphone for others to participate. The Citizenship ceremony scheduled for Thursday, September st 21 was cancelled. There will an international music program at the library on September 23rd. Now that school has started, the library is looking for tutors to help with Study Zone. Contact the library if you can help. Bylaws and Trainings – After discussion, Marie Parrish made a motion that the bylaws be approved with the changes in the Order of Business (Article V Meetings Section C) as outlined in the June 6, 2017 minutes. Steve Miller seconded the motion and it passed. Trainings were discussed and the problems with the links to the trainings in the handbook sent to us electronically. Steve Miller will ask Kirsten May to look into this. Reports of Board Members/Announcements Marie Parrish announced the Friends of the Library Book Sale went well and they raised $350 to support library programs. Scott Kruzie attended the Touch a Truck. Steve Miller participated as part of the Tukwila Tech team. Marie Parrish announced that the World Dance Party sponsored by Action rd Tukwila scheduled for September 23 has been postponed. Tukwila Village space will not be ready in time. They are hoping to reschedule in April. Linda McLeod asked about the Southcenter branch. Angie Benedetti reported th that the new space opened on August 11. It is now 5,000 sq. ft. and heavily used.
