December 6, 2016
Minutes
Attandance: TLAB Members- Gerie Ventura, Linda McLeod, Scott Kruzie; KCLS Staff- Angie Benedetti,
Abbie Anderson; Tukwila Parks & Recreation- Kirstin May; KCLS Library Designer- Dri Ralph
Meeting called to order at 5:43pm by Chair Gerie Ventura
1.Scott Kruize moved that we accept the minutes from November 6, 2016. Linda McLeod seconded.
Motion passed.
2. Committee looked over the proposed 2017 budget allocations, there was discussion on how it was
allocated and were very appreciative for the budget and being able to allocate the funds to help
different programs at the community center. Scott Kruize motioned to approved to 2017 budget as
written, Linda McLeod seconded.
3. Dri Ralph, Public Services Facilities Design Coordinator, presented to the committee the layout of the
new Foster Library. She walked us through where everything will be positioned and went over the type
of furniture that will be placed in the library. Dri commented that the Teen Library Council was very
instrumental in helping pick out the furniture for the new library.
4. Abbie Anderson and Angie Benedetti reported on upcoming library activities. They discussed that the
opening date for the new library has been pushed back to possibly March due to construction delays.
They reported that Valley View Library will be re-opening on December 17, 2016. There will be balloons,
giveaways and a few family friendly performers throughout the day. The Study Zone program has
acquired a few more volunteers and can operate more days. Citizen prep class is now going to be held at
Foster and Valley View when it reopens. Talk time is a program where people can come to the library
and practice speaking English. KCLS is taking donations for Toys for Tots and is hoping to fill a truck
between all the libraries.
5.Linda McLeod motioned to adjourn the meeting at 6:36pm, Scott Kruize seconded.
