DATE ATTACHMENTS 03/05/18 Informational Memorandum dated 2/20/18, plus attachments I 2 City of Tukwila Allan Ekberg, Mayor INFORMATIONAL MEMORANDUM TO: City Council FROM: Mayor Ekberg DATE: February 20, 2018 SUBJECT: Appointments to the SeaTac Airport Stakeholder Advisory Round Table BACKGROUND The Port of Seattle is convening a new community roundtable called the SeaTac Airport Stakeholder Advisory Round Table (StART). StART provides an opportunity for Tukwila community members to discuss concerns and voice feedback regarding Sea -Tac Airport construction projects, programs, and operations. Meetings will be designed to encourage dialogue on airport activities, inform decision-making and increase knowledge about the airport and surrounding cities. The committee will include staff and community members from adjacent cities, the Port of Seattle, airlines, and air cargo companies, including two community members and one non- elected staff member from Tukwila. Appointments are for a two-year term ending December 31, 2019 with appointees recommended by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council. I am recommending the following appointments: Community Member: Trina Cook. Her application is attached for your review. Community Member: Joon Thomas Lee. His application is attached for your review. Non -Elected Staff Member: Brandon Miles, Business Relations Manager. This position requires communication and coordination between committee members and the !ACA board, is responsible for the Certified Law Enforcement Analyst program, and is currently updating the written exam. I also serve as the club leader and college liaison for the Puget Sound Mills Club, encouraging participation in club events with alumnae of a variety of ages and interests and sharing communications to and from Mills College staff. My service to the Tukwila community includes advocating with the King County Elections office regarding reduced barriers to 'V.+JL`ffor TukwilaIGJ14ientJ. Tukwila yJL itJ first election drop hJA late last year. Hobbies/Interests: My primary hobbies are traveling, reading, running, and baking. Last year, I finished visiting all 50 of the United States, a goal established after a 45 -day road trip around the country in 2010. During that trip, I maintained a travel Nod shared with family and friends. I am lucky to he able to travel by many methods, including air travel, and especially enjoy traveling by train. Visiting different transit hubs is very interesting to me, and I enjoy seeing how regions represent themselves through their airports and train stations. Qualifications as related to this position: I am curious, inquisitive, and a strong communicator. In my work, I utilize analytical skills to distill information from both structured data and anecdotal information in order to communicate a summary back to my coworkers. Having worked in city government for 24 years, I understand some of the structure of municipal agencies and their focus on, among other things, community partnerships. Other comments/additional information for consideration: While I am also an employee of the City of Tukwila, my interest in this round table is as a resident. I would he representing other residents and community members. not the interests pf the City. I have lived within earshot of Sea -Tac Airport for most of my life, and am curious to learn more about its operations and to share information back to my community.
