Green Tukwila Update
March 7, 2018
Admin Update:
• Olena Perry is continuing to work with Forest Stewards and partners to create a 2018 event
schedule
• Olena Perry is learning Access Volunteer Database
• Roles and Responsibilities being further defined
• Main Green Tukwila program management is moving to Stephanie Gardner, implementation
and synchronization of communication being Olena Perry
• Funding from Parks Division, Recreation Division, and KCD
Volunteer Update:
• Green Tukwila Partnership and Forterra participated in the Tukwila Volunteer Fair
• Work parties are just getting started again
• Olena is working with United Way of King County to use them as a volunteer database
Partner Update
• Forterra had a private event at the Shoreline on 3/3 where 31 volunteers came from Seattle
Children's Hospital and planted 50 trees as a part of Forterra's Evergreen Carbon Capture
program.
• Tukwila P&R staff hosted a successful Partner's Meeting with Forterra, EarthCorps, and Student
Conservation Association with two goals in mind.
1) Bring all restoration and stewardship efforts within Tukwila into one intentional plan
under the Green Tukwila program.
2) Identify where and how partnerships can help implement the 2018 Green Tukwila
Workplan.
