Subject: Tukwila-Miyoshi/Ikawa Updates & Upcoming Events?
Dear Ms. Navarro,
I hope you are doing well and you are enjoying the cherry blossoms! I contacted you late last year in regards to the
current status of the Tukwila sister city relationship with Miyoshi/Ikawa in Japan.
Our office is exploring opportunities to reach out to areas that we may not normally be able to visit on a regular basis to
promote Japan. We are trying to conduct an initial survey and would greatly appreciate any information that you might
be able to share about potential events or projects, which may be a good fit for a collaboration with our office. In
particular, we are looking for events that will take place or are planned to be held during the upcoming Japanese fiscal
year (April 2018 to March 2019). Do you know of any such events in your area or does the sister city committee have
any plans/ideas?
I have CC'd my colleague, Ms. Lynn Miyauchi, Senior Cultural Affairs Specialist in this message as well as a resource.
Again, this is just a preliminary request for information, but any assistance you may be able to offer would be greatly
appreciated! We look forward to hearing back from you soon. Thank you!
Best Wishes,
Maggie Thorpe

Describe, in detail, how these funds will be utilized. Attach additional sheets as needed:
The funds will be used to pay for the cost of the facility use for Women on the Rise 3rd annual conference. The
conference will be held at the Museum of Flight. The aim of this conference is to bring together cross generational
women and male allies to empower, educate and motivate the future and current workforce. Our goal is to host 400-
500 participants this year including 100-150 students from Tukwila school district to connect with mentors, organization
