HomeMy WebLinkAboutArts 2018-01-17 Minutes ARTS COMMISSION MINUTES January 17, 2018 5:00 p.m. Tukwila Community Center 1.Call to Order:Chair Cynthia called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. Chesak 2.Attendance: Commissioners – Trish Gilmore, Cynthia Chesak, Alex Villella, Helen Enguerra, Brian Kennedy, Sheila Coppola, Daniel Humkey and Yuriko Rollins Staff – Tracy Gallaway 3.Approval of Agenda: Sheila Coppola moved to accept the agenda. Brian Kennedy seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. 4.Confirmation of Officers – Cynthia reviewed the process. Alex Villella moved to accept. Brian Kennedy seconded the motion. 5.Approval of Minutes: Trish Gilmore moved to approve the minutes of November 15, 2017. Daniel Humkey seconded the motion. Cynthia Chesak noted a spelling correction on page 2. Sheila Coppola noted that the Arts Commission Logo redesign was discussed at the end of the meeting. There was unanimous approval for the minutes as amended. 6.Old Business a.Review of City Boards and Commissions Handbook2018 – Tracy Gallaway passed out copies of the handbook and showed Arts Commissioners where to find it on the City website. AC Members watched the required trainings (video) and signed the required forms (p.13 Conflict of Interest Disclosure; p. 15 Certification of Training). b.Review of Draft Bylaws – Brian Kennedy moved to accept the bylaws as presented. Helen Enguerra seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. 7.New Business a.Arts Commission Retreat - February 10 th from 9am-12noon, tentatively at TCC. Items to be discussed at the retreat include: i.Establish a 2018 workplan, budget and sub-committee assignments ii.Review the final draft of the Tukwila Arts (Municipal Arts Plan) iii.Finalize the Arts Commission logo iv.Discuss the Rotating Art Display Wall at TCC v.Discuss the annual Fine Art Show 8.Other a.Fine Arts Show - There was discussion regarding the future of the annual Fine Art Show. There was consensus to continue this event in conjunction with the Backyard Wildlife Festival for 2018, but to add this item to the retreat for consideration beyond 2018. 1 Cynthia Chesak made a motion to continue this event for 2018 at the Backyard Wildlife Festival on May 12, 2018; Brian Kennedy seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. 9.Agenda for next meeting: Noted above under New Business (Arts Commission Retreat) Adjournment: At 6:27pm Alex Villella moved to close the meeting. Daniel Humkey seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. 2
