a.Retreat
March 1, 4 – 7 pm.
Facilitator – Eileen Yoshida
Topic – Looking through the lens of race
This is the primary item on the agenda. Consensus to reschedule the retreat if needed to
a time when Ms Yoshida is available.
Use ESJ budget to pay facilitator costs.
Location TBA – perhaps the Sullivan Center?
Other topics for the retreat:
1.Revised Roles and Responsibilities of the Equity and Social Justice commission
as a group. Group Statement and/or mission/direction. What we bring to the
table as individual members to create group synergy.
2.Getting out into the community as a Commission – How we want to connect.
Events that the Commission will participate in, and the details of how that
happens.
3.Discussion details of interaction with Teens for Tukwila, including financing
their trip to DC, and events in the schools to increase awareness of TFT as a
group.
4.Equity policy implementation and evaluation committee – the Commission is
interested in having an active role in policy implementation. This implies
involvement at all stages as the implementation is planned, and as well as review
after the proposal for implementation is presented. Details need to be discussed
at the retreat.
