Project Description: Tukwila School District proposes to mod-
ernize and expand Showalter Middle School including:
* Replacing a one-story, 10,300 se with a two-story,
19,100 se building including music and STEAM classrooms,
* Expanding the cafeteria by 2,100 sfz,
* Expanding the gym by 2,200 se adding bleacher seating,
* Adding a secured entry vestibule to east side of building
A Conditional Use Permit is needed to allow the school and its expansion in the LDR (low density residential) zone, Design Review
to add approximately 13,000 sf2 to the existing campus of 88,000 sfz, a Variance for the proposed music room to exceed the 30 -ft
height maximum in the LDR zone by 8 feet, and SEPA environmental review.
Your written comments on the project are requested and can be delivered to DCD, 6300 Southcenter Blvd, Ste 100, Tukwila WA 98188.
Comments must be received by 5:OOp.m. on June 14, 2018. You may request a copy of any decision, comment on the project, and
learn your appeal rights by contacting the project planner listed above or by visiting our offices Monday through Friday, 8:OOam to 5:00
pm at DCD 6300 Southcenter Blvd, Ste 100. Tukwila School District has opted to be the SEPA lead agency. A public hearing with the
Board of Architectural Review is scheduled for September 27, 2018 at 6:00 pm in the City Council Chambers at 6200 Southcenter
Blvd.
