Southcenter Pedestrian Bridge/Baker Blvd Non -Motorized Improvements
The $11 million project was funded through grants from the Washington State Department of
Transportation Regional Mobility Grants Program; Federal Highway Administration; King County
Open Park, Open Space, Trail, and Replacement Levy; and the City of Tukwila. The bridge and
Baker Blvd improvements will provide pedestrian and bicycle connections between the Tukwila
Station, which is served by both Sounder and Amtrak train service, as well as Metro RapidRide,
with the Southcenter area, a regional destination for housing, employment, retail, dining and
entertainment.
Marvelle at Southcenter Active Adult/55+ Multifamily Project
Tukwila's newest modern apartment community, designed exclusively for adults 55 and up, will
offer 166 units of luxury apartment living. The project is being completed by Alliance Residential
Company, a well-known housing developer in Puget Sound, and is the first of the company's
active adult housing brand to break ground. When completed in 2019, this, seven story $45
million project will be the first fully dedicated housing project in the Southcenter area. Residents
will have easy access to Tukwila's extensive trail system, Westfield Southcenter, and over 100
restaurants in the Southcenter District.
Hotel Interurban/Airmark Apartments (Washington Place)
Commonly referred to as the "Washington Place" project, this $120 million building is the tallest
building between Seattle and Tacoma and features the Hotel Interurban, a full-service hotel
operated by Columbia Hospitality, which opened in May of this year. Also, in the building are the
Airmark Apartments, which features 371 residential units. The Airmark Apartments are the first
multi -family units in the Southcenter District. Washington Place was the vision of developers
