Meeting Minutes

CALL TO ORDER: Chair Kruller called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.
I. BUSINESS AGENDA
A. Lodging Tax Funding Application: Museum of Flight and City of Tukwila.
Staff is seeking Council approval of two applications for lodging tax funds as recommended by
the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee on July 2, 2018. The Museum of Flight is requesting $50,000
to support its Veterans Day weekend activities, including the grand opening of the new Vietnam
Veterans Memorial Park featuring a restored B-52 bomber. If approved by the Council, a final
scope of work consistent with the application will be finalized in a contract to be presented to
the Community Development and Neighborhoods Committee at a future meeting date. The

support the request for this reason.
The City of Tukwila is requesting $5,000 to support marketing of a new event,

marketing and promotion. The full $5,000 is unlikely to be needed. The City of Tukwila does not
currently have an LGBTQ Pride event and also aims to have creative new types of events
specifically in the Southcenter area.
Museum of Flight request: MAJORITY APPROVAL WITH COUNCILMEMBER IDAN OPPOSED.

II.MISCELLANEOUS

Staff updated the Committee on the Southcenter 50 Anniversary efforts. There are several events
associated with the celebration through October. July activities include Touch a Truck on July 28
and champagne gala at Westfield Southcenter on July 31.
