MINUTES
October 2, 2018 5:30 p.m. Tukwila Community Center
1. Call To Order: Chair Scott Kruize, called the meeting to order at 5:37pm.
2. Attendance/Roll Call:
Commissioners: Scott Kruize, Steve Miller, Linda McLeod, Verna Seal, Gerie Ventura arrived at 6:OOpm
KCLS: Angelina Benedetti,
City Staff: Stephanie Gardner -Brown
3. Agenda and Approval Minutes: Verna Seal motioned to approve the agenda and accept the September
11, 2018 minutes, Steve Miller seconded the motion and there was unanimous approval.
4. Citizen Comment: None
5. Unfinished Business:
a. 2018 Workplan and budget review: Board members discussed 2018 events and upcoming
events to determine what funding may be available to help with the Spirit of Giving Campaign.
Stephanie Gardner, staff liaison, shared the funding breakdown for 2018 to date. The Board
agreed to support the annual Harvest Carnival with funding for a musician and funding for a hot
cider stand for parents and caregivers. It was determined that the Board would have funding
to support the Spirit of Giving Campaign. Board member, Verna Seal, will reach out to her
contact at Scholastic to be able to provide books for the campaign.
6. New Business:
a. 2019 Budget and Workplan: The Board discussed their 2019 budget and determined they would
like to continue to support events with the City while finding creative ways to partner with KCLS.
Stephanie Gardner -Brown will provide staff ideas at the next meeting.
The Board also discussed having guests attend 2019 meetings to ensure members are informed
of happenings within the City and with KCLS. Board members, along with Stephanie Gardner -
Brown (TLAB staff liaison) and. Angelina Benedetti (KCLS) will share ideas at the November 2018
meeting.
7. Reports:
a. KCLS: Angelina Benedetti provided information about upcoming programs the library.
b. Tukwila Parks and Recreation: Shared information about upcoming events and the October 6,
2018 Senior Chat.

10. Adjournment: At 6:45 pm Verna Seal moved to close the meeting. Steve Miller seconded the motion.
The motion passed unanimously.
