December 13, 2018

Members Present: Roger Arnold, Kim Karns, Jun Castillo, John Lindsay, Jerry Thornton

• Minutes for 11/8/18 meeting approved
• Chief s update:
• Chief Linton on the holiday season enforcement. The two big emphasis
operations are on Black Friday and the day after Christmas. The Mobile
Command post and officers are stationed at the mall to keep everything safe
and under control.
• Description of the Mobile Command Post
1. Radio dispatch area, with a satellite dish to keep
communications in the case cell towers go down
2. Has 2 generators
3. Eight work stations
4. Mast camera for a territorial view
5. Ham radios for use in an emergency
• Had an annual PD potluck
• The City had an employee appreciation breakfast, paid for and served by
department managers
• Shop with a Cop was last weekend. Sponsored by Target, Tukwila Police
Guild, Jimmy Johns and other local businesses. The children participating are
selected by the Tukwila School District.
• Staffing, looking good on paper. One short of being "fully staffed". However,
many still need to complete a background investigation and then complete
training. It will be roughly 6 months before these folks are fully "street ready".
• Working on goals for next year.
• Planning in process for next year's Community Police Academy and Bulldog
Academy.
• Chief Linton is getting ready to retire from the Military. He is currently
wrapping up projects from his tenure. His retirement ceremony will be Jan 6
with his retirement effective Jan 31st

• Jerry — Woman named Jovita Thomas-Connel was working on a survey on
Tukwila Talk.
• John — where are we with the survey translation.
• Roger — What languages will we translate into for the survey. Chief, that will
depend on the response from the School District with percentages of
households speaking other than English.
• Jerry — Boards and Commissions appreciation at Hotel Interurban on Dec 18tn
from 5:30 to 7pm.
• Tosh's fiancee — What does the PD do when there is an outbreak of issues at a
location? Example, break-ins of cars and homes at their condo. Answer:
Extra patrols and support for the community.
