Minutes for both meetings were approved
V.Business Items
Update on HR Director Recruitment (10 minutes) – Commissioner Roeland provided
an overview of the new HR director and the selection process. The Commission is
looking forward to meeting with the new director once he is on board.
Review draft Community Engagement Manager job description – Staff presented the
draft job description. The Commission discussed the job description, asked various
questions about the opening, selection process, indicators of success and more.
Workplan Review – The Commission discussed the various items on the workplan,
agreeing that all items except the HR director on the 2018 plan are ongoing and will
move to 2019. The Commission indicated it was interested in being briefed early in
2019 on the GARE membership in order to best utilize the opportunity. The
Commission also discussed creating subcommittees, ultimately agreeing on two sub
committees focused on the different goals of the City’s Equity Policy. Staff agreed to
develop a draft overview of the two committees. The Commission was also
interested in identifying a way that they can better understand what is occurring in
the different areas.
Officer Elections for 2019 – Mikkell Roeland was unanimously elected Chair of the
Commission and Bridgette Agpaoa-Ryder was unanimously elected Vice-Chair.
