Joint Meeting with City Council and Executive Staff

The purpose of this meeting was for the Council to meet jointly with City Executive and Administrative
Staff to build stronger relationships, review the Strategic Plan and 2019-2020 work plan priorities, and
plan for future years.
Part 1: Council President Hougardy welcomed attendees and led an exercise where people shared
thoughts about what Tukwila was like 20 years ago. Small groups were then organized by the Strategic
Plan goals. Participants discussed their visions for the future and each group reported out on common
themes or items of interest.
Part 2: Each of the four groups reviewed the Strategic Plan and the 2019 work plans to come up with
common categories or themes to describe the work items for that particular goal. Each group recorded
their comments on easels and reported out to all.
Councilmember Hougardy stated that each group's outcomes would be consolidated and shared for
discussion at a future meeting. Mayor Ekberg asked each attendee to share a parting thought, and the
meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
