Tukwila City Hall, Hazelnut Conference Room 6200 Southcenter Boulevard, Tukwila, WA 98168 MINUTES I. Call to Order II. Introductions (2 minutes) • Mikkell Roeland, Chair • Bridgette Agpaoa-Ryder, Vice -Chair • Nora Gierloff • Aaron Dragonav • Nichelle Paige • Councilmember Kathy Hougardy • Rachel Bianchi III. Approval of Agenda (3 minutes) Agenda was approved IV. Approval of Minutes, February 7, 2019 Minutes were approved V. Business Items • Mikkell Roeland spoke about ELGL and that she is now a member. They have a lot of information and focus on equity. She will check the website on a regular basis. Bridgette Agpaoa-Ryder mentioned the great work of the King County Office of Equity and the listsery run by the office. She indicated she would send information on the listsery to the other Commission members. • Rachel Bianchi presented on the City's new GARE membership after the onboarding call she had. GARE is updating its website and later this Spring will have additional resources the City can tap into. Additionally, Rachel has registered to attend the GARE annual conference in April and will encourage the new Community Engagement Manager to attend as well. • Mikkell Roeland discussed the workplan and asked each member to sign up for one discreet task they would be willing to focus on for the year. Everyone acknowledged that some things on the original workplan may fall off due to other commitments. • The group discussed the desire to know what is happening at the other Boards and Commissions meeting. Staff will determine the best way to provide this information. • The group reviewed the legislation target calendar provided in the packet. • Commission members shared the following information in the Feedback and Knowledge item: o Nora Gierloff discussed reading The Last Unicorn. o Kathy Hougardy brought up the recent Community Connectors report to the Council; the Commission agreed that this should be an item at an upcoming meeting. Lighting only faces the streets 2. Signage is accessible only in English 3. Street crossing is dangerous on the main arterial streets (busy crossings) 4. Families do not feel safe 5. Programming: Lack of park activation and sport usage 6. Bathroom accessibility: Changing stations for families Civic Academy Implementation 1. Programming: What does this look like? 2.
