ISSUE
Position #8: School District Representative on the Community Oriented Policing Citizens
Advisory Board (COPCAB) is currently vacant. I am recommending the appointment of Jo Anne
Fabian to this position. A copy of Jo Anne's application is attached. The term for this position
expires December 31, 2022.
RECOMMENDATION
I am recommending the appointment of Jo Anne Fabian to Position #8 of COPCAB be
confirmed by Council at the April 1, 2019 Council Meeting.

Professional/Community Activities (organizations, clubs, service groups, etc):
I am a member of the Washington Association for School Administrators (WASA) and
the Washington Educational Research Association (WERA). I have been a member of
the Tukwila School District since July of 2013. Prior to joining Tukwila, I worked in
Everett on the On Time Graduation initiative. Before taking on that position, I worked in
alternative education for 14 years as a teacher and a principal.
Hobbies/Interests:
I enjoy reading, exercise, attending conferences and speakers to learn.
Qualifications as related to this position:
I have worked in education for over 25 years, with the majority of the time focusing on at risk youth. I
have a strong commitment to Tukwila and am interested in working to ensure that children here receive
the services they need.
