Wednesday, June 19, 2019 5:30pm Tukwila Community Center
CaII to Order: Chairperson Kruize called the meeting to order at 5:30pm.
Attendance: Park Commissioners — Sean Albert, Nerissa Metully, Don Scanlon, Scott Kruize, Ivan Cockrum, Matt

Arts Commissioners — Cynthia Chesak, Sheila Coppola, Helen Enguerra
Public — Dylan Mahler, Scott Severson
Staff — Robert Eaton, Jon Pheanis with MIG (PROS Plan Consultant)
Approval of Minutes: No minutes reviewed or approved.
Special Presentations: Jon Pheanis, MIG Consultant for the Tukwila Parks, Recreation, and Open Space (PROS)
Plan facilitated an interactive work session with the Parks Commission. Arts Commissioners were also invited to
participate, and several were in attendance, as well as one prospective Arts Commissioner and one gentleman as
interested public. Jon Pheanis, led the group through active discussion stemming from prepared questions
focused on 1) opportunities and issues in Tukwila Parks, 2) goals of the PROS Plan update, 3) role of the
Commission in the update, and 4) identifying the target audience.
Comments and thoughts were captured and categorized onto a large sheet of paper spread across the wall. The
meeting ended at 7:30pm.
Business Items
A. Acquisitions Update — Robert Eaton briefly updated on the status of the Davies property on 116th St in the
Duwamish neighborhood, which is on the recommendation list for funding from the CFT grant program as
well as the RCO grant program. If the grant budgets are approved, the site will likely be acquired by the
first quarter of 2020.
Other:
A. July Meeting Status — Robert Eaton asked if the Commission is interested in meeting next month on July
10th or canceling the meeting to be able to attend the See You in the Park Event that night. Chairperson
Kruize asked that an email be sent out to the Commissioners polling them on this.
Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 7:30pm.
