I have a couple of concerns with the proposed signs. First, according to the Tukwila Sign Code, awning face signs may only be illuminated through indirect lighting, so internal illumination would not be allowed. Secondly, please verify that both the awning on the front (East side) of the building and the awning on South side of the building are over exterior public entrances. I couldn't tell from the plans whether both the front and side doors are open to the public or not. Lastly, you indicate on your plans that the area of sign 2 (on the south side of the building) is 39.2 square feet. I used two different methods to try to verify the area of the sign, but I was unable to determine how you arrived at this area. As with wall mounted signs, the area of awning face signs must be calculated using one continuous perimeter and 90 degree angles. Please submit revised plans or explain in writing how you calculated the sign area. Sincerely, Jonathon Morrison Winters Planning Intern City of Tukwila jwinters@@ci.tukwila.wa. us file://C:\Documents and Settings\dcd-intern\Local Settings\Temp\XPgrpwise\4DD63A78... 05/20/2011 Contractors or Tradespeople Print,— Friendly Page Page 1 of 1 General/Specialty Contractor A business registered as a construction contractor with Lail to perform construction work within the scope of its specialty.
