After looking at your plans and reviewing the sign code, it looks like that canopy would qualify for a "canopy side sign." The section of the code that lists the requirements of awning/canopy side signs is section 19.20.050.f.2 The sign as currently proposed would not meet the requirements for the following reasons: - canopy signs are permitted one line of lettering. This means that cabinet signs would generally not be allowed. - signs shall not project beyond the edge of the associated awning or canopy. If you would like to submit an application for a sign that meets these and the other requirements of the code, I would be happy to review it for you. I double checked with Brandon and he said that, since the current application has already been issued, you will need to submit a separate application for the canopy side sign. The good news is, the code states that the canopy side sign is "allowed in addition to the [other] building - mounted signs," so Juba could have the two signs for which you have already applied in addition to the canopy side sign, assuming they meet all other code requirements. Hope that clears it up for you. This sign permit application can be used to determine the total number of building mounted signs permitted for your business. In some cases an additional wall sign maybe permitted on walls that do not have entrances, see Section 2 of this application.
