We have determined that your property meets the requirements under Tukwila Municipal Code (TMC) 19.22.020. Your request to opt out has been approved. On the above referenced property and on any adjacent parcel(s) indicated in your application, you are allowed permanent signs under the provisions of TMC 19.22, which will be in force in lieu of TMC 19.20. Any future sign installation, as well as any change to the face or copy of an existing sign will require a sign permit. When applying for a sign permit, please include all of the required materials listed under TMC 19.22.027. You are also required to note in all future sign permit applications that the installation or change is proposed on an "opt -out" premise. You may, at your discretion, choose to opt back in to the provisions of TMC Chapter 19.20. A decision to opt back in is permanent and may be made at any time. If you should choose to opt back in all signs that do not comply with TMC 19.20 would have to be removed. Should you choose to opt back in, you may be allowed to install additional signs and/or a variety of new, innovative sign types. The City would like to encourage you to look at possible sign options that may be available for your property. If you would like to meet with a City Planner on site who can discuss your sign options, please call (206) 431-3670. Please retain this letter for future reference. Please consider this Letter as our request to Opt -Out of the new sign code. Our representative Robert Schofield has testified at the council hearings and worked closely with the Department of Community Development in order to preserve our signage. The City of Tukwila has now passed a new sign code. This new sign code has a provision that we worked closely with them to provide. It is called a Opt -Out provision. This provision allows us to Opt -Out of the new sign code. For more details you can go to the City of Tukwila web site www.tukwilawa.gov/dcd/dcdpermit.html. Then Click on the Sign Code Revision Section 19.22.020.A.1-4 of the City of Tukwila's new sign code provides for the Opt -Out provision in order to remain under the previous sign code. This preserves our existing signage. This Opt -Out will apply to the building and all the Tenants and signs on the premises. We have submitted this Opt -Out for our building and our Tenants, so that we can preserve our current signs on the building and with the pylon sign.
