I have determined that the proposed sign does not meet the requirements of Tukwila's Sign Code for the following reason(s): I calculated the sign area to be 71.86 square feet. This is based on a 37.16 sq ft area for the word "Discounters" and a 34.7 sq ft area for the word "Mattress" (including the 6 in space between the two words). The maximum allowable sign area is 69 sq ft for a building face of 1623 sq ft. Please submit revised plans showing a smaller sign or indicating how you calculated the area of the sign. This is not a final decision. Your permit application is still under review and may be revised. You may submit revisions via e-mail to lonathon.winters@tukwilawa.gov. No new permit or additional fee is required. Any revisions you submit will require additional time to review. If additional revisions or modifications to the project plans have not been received by March 29, 2012, your permit will be denied. Additional Information: I will also be reviewing the Coast Guard sign today. You can expect to hear from me about that one later this morning. If you have any questions about the permitting process, please call 206-431-2164 and reference the permit number listed above. Sincerely, Jon Morrison Winters Department of Community Development City of Tukwila jonathon.winters@tukwilawa.gov 206-431-2164 My office hours for the Fall quarter are 8:00 AM — 4:00 PM, Wednesday and Friday. This will serve as an official notice of completeness for your permit application. Your permit application is currently under review. You should receive written notice of the status of your application in approximately 3-5 business days. Although we strive to issue sign permits as quickly as possible (typically within one week), you should allow up to 120 days to receive your permit. If we are unable to issue your permit within 120 days, you will receive a written statement of explanation as to why this time limit has not been met and an estimated date for issuance of the notice of final decision. Any modification to project plans occurring before issuance of the permit shall be deemed a new application for the purpose of the 120-day permit clock when such modification results in a substantial change in the project's review requirements, as determined by the Department. Additional Information: As I noted in our phone conversation today, the reface of the pole sign will require a separate permit. If you have any questions about the permitting process or to check the status of your application, please call 206-431- 2164 and reference the permit number listed above.
