PERMIT CONDITIONS: 1: The attached set of mechanical plans have been reviewed by The Tukwila Fire Marshal's Office and are acceptable with the following concerns: 2: H.V.A.C. units rated at greater than 2,000 cfm require auto -shutdown devices. These devices shall be separately zoned in the alarm panel and local U.L. central station supervision is required. (City Ordinance #2437) 3: H.V.A.C. systems supplying air in excess of 2,000 cubic feet per minute to enclosed spaces within buildings shall be equipped with an automatic shutoff. Automatic shutoff shall be accomplished by interrupting the power source of the air -moving equipment upon detection of smoke in the main return -air duct served by such equipment. Smoke detectors shall be labeled by an approved agency for air -duct installation and shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions. (IMC 606.1, 606.2.1) 4: Remote indicator lights are required on all above ceiling smoke detectors. (City Ordinance #2437) 5: Duct smoke detectors shall be capable of being reset from a single point near the alarm panel. (City Ordinance #2437) 6: Duct detectors shall send a supervisory signal only upon activation. (City Ordinance #2437) 7: All new fire alarm systems or modifications to existing systems shall have the written approval of The Tukwila Fire Prevention Bureau. No work shall commence until a fire department permit has been obtained. Final inspection approval will be determined by the building inspector based on satisfactory completion of this requirement. 17: All plumbing and gas piping work shall be inspected and approved under a separate permit issued by the City of Tukwila Building Department (206-431-3670). 18: All electrical work shall be inspected and approved under a separate permit issued by the City of Tukwila Permit Center. 19: VALIDITY OF PERMIT: The issuance or granting of a permit shall not be construed to be a permit for, or an approval of, any violation of any of the provisions of the building code or of any other ordinances of the City of Tukwila. Based on our site visits to the store, information we received from your office, and our calculations, we anticipate that the proposed new mechanical units can be installed on the existing roof structure. AHBL visited the store to observe the relationship of the existing mechanical units to the store's roof structure. The Tukwila store's roof structure consists of steel roof deck on parallel chord steel K-or LH trusses supported by steel beams. The beams are supported by steel tube columns. It was observed that existing mechanical units are placed very near columns supporting the roof structure. In this case, a large portion of the mechanical unit weight is borne directly by the column and a lesser portion is borne directly by roof trusses. Our analysis approach was to compare the effects on the roof framing members of the new unit Toads against those effects of the existing units. Where the effects of new equipment Loading did not exceed those of the existing unit by 5%, it was judged that the new unit could be installed on the roof structure supporting the existing mechanical unit. In this approach, the actual load capacity of the supporting framing was not calculated. Our analysis assumed that new mechanical units are to be placed at the same location as the existing units they replace. In no case should our investigation be construed as a general condition study or structural analysis the roof or any other system comprising the store. AHBL was not able to observe the condition of roof framing or other supporting elements in the immediate vicinity of mechanical units or under the units due to interference or lack of access.
