TUKWILA PARKS COMMISSION
MINUTES
Wednesday, November 13, 2019 5:30pm Sullivan Center
Call to Order: Chairperson Kruize called the meeting to order at 5:31pm.
Attendance: Park Commissioners — Sean Albert, Don Scanlon, Scott Kruize, Ivan Cockrum, Matt Mega
Staff — Robert Eaton, Stephanie Gardner -Brown
Approval of Minutes: Commissioner Albert moved to approve the minutes of the October 9, 2019 meeting.
Commissioner Scanlon seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Public Comment: none
Business Items:
A. Parks & Recreation Department Funding Request - Spirit of Giving — Stephanie Gardner -Brown provided a
handout on the Spirit of Giving program. The memo provided an overview of the program as well as wish
lists, donation options and goals of the program. Ms. Gardner -Brown also outlined the criteria for family's
participation in the program. She then proposed some potential specific funding options if the Park
Commission was interested in supporting, one being to purchase State Park Passes "Discover Pass" for
families to help provide an opportunity to get out and enjoy nearby regional parks. The Commission asked
that additional information be provided with the passes to further help assist families being able to do
this. They asked that specific items like street and park maps, bus line maps and info, and bus passes be
provided as well since transportation can oftentimes be a barrier for accessing parks.
Robert Eaton informed the Commission that the remaining amount of the budget is approximately
$2,900.00 and there are no upcoming known expenditures.
Commissioner Mega moved to allocate all remaining Park Commission budget funds to the Spirit of Giving
Program to support the community needs. Commissioner Scanlon seconded the motion. The motion passed
unanimously.
Other: Robert Eaton reminded the Commission that there is no meeting in December and the Annual Holiday All
Commissions Social will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Billy Baroo's Restaurant in the Foster Golf
Links Clubhouse from 5:30pm — 7:30pm.
Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 5:49pm.
