Budget Non Departmental Page 26, Printout TUKWILA CITY COUNCIL City Hall BUDGET HEARING Council Chambers M I N U T E S called Council President Bohrer the Budget Hearing meeting to order. 3797 L. C. BOHRER (Council President), EDGAR D. BAUCH, MABEL J. HARRIS, DORIS PHELPS. Mayor GARY VAN DUSEN, City Clerk MAXINE ANDERSON, Fire Chief HUBERT CRAWLEY, Finance Director ALAN DOERSCHEL. Alan Doerschel, Finance Director, presented the budget for the Finance Department. He stated the goals of the Finance Department are to improve the short and long -range planning capability of the City and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Finance Department. He presented potential budget reductions that would delay or significantly defer the goals of the Department The computer has saved one -four to one -half a person, but has made available to the City data on a daily schedule. Maxine Anderson, City Clerk, presented the budget for the Municipal Court. She presented the goals and objectives of the Municipal Court office. She requested Court Clerk position that has been part -time be budgetted for fulltime in 1983 due to the increased work load in the Municipal Court office. Mrs. Anderson stated capital equipment needed would be one IBM Selectric Typewriter for the Municipal Court office in the amount of $1200; one Calculator in the amount of $300. Maxine Anderson, City Clerk, stated extra labor would be needed to cover maternity leave. She stated the City Clerk's Budget can be cut by 20% by putting the two employees on a four -day work week. Mrs. Anderson stated there is need for a Word Processor in the amount of $12,500. A noise detector is needed to assess noise level. Alan Doerschel, Finance Director, explained the Non Departmental Miscellaneous Services. He stated Valley Communications budget has gone up from $75,988 to $96,812 for 1983.
