MINUTES
January 8, 2020 5:30pm Tukwila Community Center
Call to Order: Chairperson Scott Kruize called the meeting to order at 5:31pm.
Attendance: Commissioners — Don Scanlon, Ernie Young, Ivan Cockrum, Matt Mega, Scott Kruize
Staff— Robert Eaton
Approval of Minutes: Commissioner Scanlon moved to approve the minutes of the November 13, 2019 meeting.
Commissioner Cockrum seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Special Presentations: none
Citizen Comment: none
Business Items
A. Appointments —This item was moved to February's agenda at the request of the Commission to allow
opportunity for Commissioner Albert to be in attendance.
B. Develop 2020 Workplan —The Commission brainstormed some areas of interest for 2020; Safety issues in
parks, updates on projects in parks, capital and acquisition priorities, webpage for stream keepers group
on city website under parks, concern for general public that are accessing the golf course to view the bald
eagles or for general recreation as it creates a hazard if they are not golfing.
Other: Mr. Eaton shared that the property acquisition on 116th Street in the Duwamish Neighborhood was
successful and that next steps, based on funding, would be to demolish the structures on site. Commissioner
Young mentioned partnering with the Fire Department as part of their controlled burn training opportunities
because that program can help cover the cost of demo work and provide valuble training opportunities.
Adjournment: At 6:15pm Commissioner Cockrum moved to close the meeting. Commissioner Mega seconded the
motion. The motion passed unanimously.
