WATER FUND
Page (Expendi- Byron Sneva, Public Works Director, reviewed the line items requested
ture) by the Water Department. If it were necessary to reduce the fund by
Page 119 (Narrative) 10% one of the Utility Persons would have to be eliminated. A 20%
reduction would require, not only the elimination of one employee,
but would also delete the request for a Lift Station generator in
the amount of $48,000.
7:25 P.M. Councilman Duffie arrived.
401.41 Mr. Sneva noted that Professional Services have been left blank
pending adoption of the Comprehensive Water Plan. It would give
a direction for engineering services and minor improvements in 1983.
Also, after a decision has been reached on purchase of the
Independent Water Company, money will be needed for the first
installment.
Alan Doerschel reported that the Water Fund has no reserve. A major
emergency could run the fund in the red. He noted that the Water
and Sewer Funds could be combined but there must be separate book-
keeping for each fund.
Councilman Harris explained that when the Sewer Fund was first
started there was no money so the Water Fund paid the bonds, principal
and interest for the Sewer Fund. Discussion on combining the two
funds is in the Finance and Personnel Committee. Water rates in the
surrounding districts were compared.
ADJOURNMENT There being no further comments on the budgetary proposals for the
Water Fund, the meeting adjourned.
